Black Hills Centennial Trail

Are you wanting to try your hand at a thru-hike of the longest trail in the Black HIlls? Or do you just want to experience some incredible scenery throughout the best parts of the Hills on shorter, day trips?  Either way, the Centennial Trail in all its many sections is for you!

The Centennial Trail is a super-trail of sorts, spanning almost the entire length of the Black Hills, in western South Dakota.  It runs for more than 100 miles down the spine of the Black Hills, starting at Bear Butte State Park near Sturgis, and ending at Wind Cave National Park.  It also traverses a large portion of both Custer State Park and Wind Cave National Park.

Whether you’re planning a full thru-hike, you just want a fun day of hiking through the Black Hills or you’re a local who is slowly working towards your goal of hiking the entire Centennial Trail (in small portions), this list is for you!

Note:  this list is not comprehensive…YET!  It includes all the portions of the Centennial Trail that the Trekkers have personally hiked.   I’ll keep adding to it as we bag more sections, our goal is to complete the entire trail…eventually. 😉
