As many of my regular readers know, I LOVE visiting Colorado. The Trekkers have traveled all around the state and it is, by far, one of my favorite places to vacation. See the list below for all of my favorite locations (I’ll keep adding to it as we check out more places.)
Colorado National Monument : An Amazing place to visit not far from Grand Junction!
Visiting Garden of the Gods and Pikes Peak: Two beautiful sites just outside of Colorado Springs, on the Front Range!
San Luis Valley: Aliens, Sand Dunes and Sandhill Cranes!: One of my favorite places in Colorado!
Dinosaur National Monument: the Colorado Side: Scenic drives, a great hike, INCREDIBLE views, the Colorado side of this national monument has it all!
Guide to Colorado Backroads and 4WD Trails: A Book Review
Dinosaur National Monument: the Utah Side: As the park sits on the border between the two states, this portion of the park is actually in Utah. You can easily see both sides on your visit though, and this is where all the dinosaur bones are (so it’s pretty important)!
7 “Must-See” Colorado Ghost Towns: From Teller City and Coalmont in the north to Pitkin, St. Elmo, Gothic, and Independence in the central portion of the state, this post gives details about all of these awesome sites!
The Best Hidden Gems of Northern Colorado: In this post, I review Lake Agnes at State Forest State Park, the Flattop Wilderness, and Grand Mesa National Forest, among other cool places!
The Drive to Crystal Mill in Colorado: this post details the incredible drive to this iconic site/ghost town located high in the Colorado Rockies
The Backroads of Colorado: In this post, I review the Montgomery Pass and Bockman Roads at State Forest State Park; Gothic Road, Schofield Pass, and Slate River Road/the GORGEOUS Paradise Divide all near Crested Butte as well as a few other options
11 “Don’t Miss” Sites in Colorado: Mesa Verde National Park; Route 550, the Million Dollar Highway; Ouray/True Grit film sites; Rifle/Rifle Falls; and even Oregon Trail Wheel Ruts (ok, these are actually in Wyoming but they were still cool!)
Driving the Medano Creek Road at Great Sand Dunes National Park
Have you visited any of these amazing places? If so, what was your experience? Are there any others you think I should add to this list to visit? Let me know in the comments!
